Scientific Advisors:

Mark Nicosia

Mark Nicosia, Ph.D., is the chair of the Mechanical Engineering Department in the Widener University School of Engineering (Chester, PA). Dr. Nicosia’s expertise is in soft tissue biomechanics. He has published research on the biomechanics of such varied tissues as esophageal, heart valve, oral, and aortic, among others. He has also conducted research in computer modeling of wound closure by sutures. Prior to his professorship at Widener University, Dr. Nicosia had been an engineering consultant at Exponent, Inc.,
and, prior to that, an Assistant Professor of Biomedical Engineering at University of Minnesota.

Bob Cargill

Bob Cargill, Ph.D., P.E., is a Principal at Cargill Bioengineering, LLC., in
Thorofare, NJ. Dr. Cargill is an expert in the conceptualization, design, analysis, and evaluation of tissue engineered products and related devices. Dr. Cargill has lectured in the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at Princeton University and the Department of Mechanical Engineering and Orthopaedics at the University of British Columbia. Dr. Cargill was on the academic faculty at the George W. Woodruff School of Mechanical Engineering at the Georgia Institute of Technology.

Rao Bezwada

Rao Bezwada, Ph.D., is the President of Bezwada Biomedical, LLC. Dr. Bezwada is a world-renowned expert in absorbable biomaterials. He has invented entire classes of absorbable biomaterials. While working at Ethicon, Dr. Bezwada invented Monocryl®, an absorbable suture that is currently distributed all over the world. He is named inventor on 71 issued U.S. patents and sixteen published articles and eight presentations on polyurethane chemistry and absorbable polymers. Dr. Bezwada advises ZSX Medical in the area of polymer chemistry and biomaterials.

David Wiseman

David Wiseman, Ph.D., is the principal at Synechion, Inc., a consulting and pre-clinical testing company. Dr. Wiseman is an accomplished and recognized expert in the science and business of prevention of surgical adhesions with general expertise in preclinical, clinical, regulatory, and marketing aspects of medical products. He advises ZSX Medical regarding development strategy, and has designed and performed pre-clinical trials on our behalf.

Clinical Advisors:

Alexander Anthopoulos

Alexander Anthopoulos, M.D., is a board-certified Obstetrician-Gynecologist in private practice since 1992 with the Main Line Health System in suburban Philadelphia, PA. As a member of a busy group practice,  Dr. Anthopoulos has had extensive experience caring for low and high risk pregnant patients in both the office setting and in the labor and delivery suite, as well as performing major and minor gynecologic surgical procedures in the operating room.  He also has been involved with the training of Ob-Gyn and Family Medicine residents and medical students.

Michael Diamond

Michael Diamond, M.D. is a professor of obstetrics and gynecology at Wayne State University, and a practicing gynecologist. Dr. Diamond is a world-renowned expert in soft tissue adhesions, and has taken part in the clinical development of virtually every anti-adhesion product to reach the market. As a member of our scientific advisory board, Dr. Diamond participates in all aspects of ZSX Medical's product development strategy, including clinical and pre-clinical trial design.

Anthony Delconte

Anthony DelConte, M.D., is the Principal at DC Consulting. He is a board-certified obstetrician-gynecologist and former Chief Medical Officer of Auxilium Pharmaceuticals.
